Lianna Grethel Portuondo, was born in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, but moved to Colombia with her mother when she turned two. There, she spent her childhood and teenage years.
From the first time Lianna watched television, she became fascinated with it. She enrolled in interpretation classes at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Cali, Colombia. After finishing college, Lianna moved to Colombia’s capital city, where she continued her modeling career. With that experience, Lianna started participating in every theatrical show and musical that She had an opportunity. She worked in several soap operas: La Mujer Doble, Maria Bonita and Mascarada, among others.
A few years later Grethel moved to Miami. She decided to pursue her passion for acting and modeling. Lianna became a model for one of the most popular shows in Latin America, “Sabado Gigante”. At the same time, producers liked how she looked on the screen and was called to work for the number one show among young people at the time, called “Control.”. Among her numerous dreams, Lianna wanted to live in LosAngeles. A city that she describes as “magical.”
She was signed by a prestigious advertising agency and became the image for brands such as JC Penny, McDonalds, Cingular, Radio Shack, and others. The world-renowned William Morris Agency also liked Lianna and made her the Voice of McDonalds, Coca Cola, Jack in the Box, Burger King, and many other firms. Currently Lianna is the host for “Alarma TV,” a Liberman Broadcasting production. Adding to the list of challenges she takes, is the work as anchor for the Channel 62 Daily News.
She is also a model in the successful “Deal or No Deal” NBC show. She is the only Colombian model that works in the show and feels very fortunate to have been chosen among more than 2000 models from around the world.
