The dynamic combination of beauty, joy, simplicity and incredible personality have made Argelia Atilano one of the most beloved Latina communicators in Hispanic media. Her name is a summary of successful work that forms a consolidated career in radio and television.

In 2003, Argelia joined the Univision Television network where for 10 years she led the entertainment segment from Hollywood for the nationally leading newscast, Primer Impacto. She also collaborated in national programs and special projects such as: Premios Juventud, Premios Lo Nuestro, The Latin Grammys, Ver Para Creer, Viva La Familia de Todo bebé, Despierta América, and Mira Quién Baila, where she competed during the third season.

All this happened while Argelia got up daily at 3 in the morning to be present with her husband Omar Velasco, both co-hosts of the morning show for Los Angeles’ leading Spanish-language radio station, KLVE 107.5 FM, which recently completed a successful eighteen incredible years on the air. Now, Omar y Argelia returned with their successful morning show as unique as their great love story that was born being “on the air” on the radio at their new home La Mega 96.3 FM!

Argelia’s work has been recognized with 5 Golden Mike Awards, the keys to the city of Huntington Park, State Senator of California Gil Cedillo Award and nominations for the most distinguished awards in the industry, the Emmy Awards and the Marconi Radio Awards.

Argelia has worked and collaborated closely with charities such as the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, St. Jude’s Research Center, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The American Red Cross, Padres Contra El Cancer, The Blind Children’s Center, Girls Today Women Tomorrow, Step Up and Proyecto Pastoral. Always putting her community first, one of her most esteemed projects is through the same high school where she studied, Garfield High School, in East Los Angeles. Here she participated in the scholarship program, The Escalante Scholarship Fund, where she motivated students who are about to leave school, cultivating in them the determination to move forward with their studies and attend college, despite the obstacles they face. In 2013, Argelia fulfilled its great dream of creating its own scholarship foundation “The Argelia Atilano Scholarship Fund” whose objective is to grant scholarships to young Latinas graduated from Garfield High School and accepted to their alma mater, Loyola Marymount University in California.

Argelia has collaborated as an official spokesperson for several local and national campaigns for television and radio, sponsoring major brands such as “California’s First 5”, “AT&T”, “Oil of Olay”, “Herbal Essences”, “Pampers”, “ULTA Beauty”, “Nestle”, “Target”, “Dignity Health”, “Neutrogena”, “Danon”, “Silk”, “Macy’s”, “American Cancer Society”, “Johnson & Johnson”, “Galpin Ford”, “Amazon”, “Netflix”, and “BodyArmor”, to name a few. She has also been an ambassador for the prestigious scholarship program, ‘HACER’ from McDonalds’.

Argelia along with her husband Omar, are authors of their first book Amor Al Aire, which provides an overview of their own challenge of striking the balance between marriage, family and a radio program. Inspired by her daughters Camila and Anabella, she is also the author of her first children’s book Grandes Dreamers that proudly highlights life, journey, impressive careers and the innovative achievements of twelve women entrepreneurs, Latinas born in the United States. Argelia’s commitment is to help and contribute to the education, improvement and knowledge of the Latino community, thinking specifically about girls and women.
